Notary & Commissioning, common questions

What is the difference between a notary and a commissioner of oaths?

A commissioner of oaths can administer oaths and take affidavits and statutory declarations, while a notary public can additionally certify true copies and authenticate documents for wider use, including internationally. We can advise which service your document requires.

Can documents be notarized remotely?

Some documents can be commissioned or notarized by video where Ontario rules permit, while others require in-person attendance. We confirm which applies to your document when you book.

What should I bring to a notary appointment?

Bring the complete, unsigned document (unless instructed otherwise) and valid government-issued photo identification. Depending on the document, additional information may be required, which we will confirm in advance.

Do you notarize documents for businesses and organizations?
